UPDATE: Since the recording of this interview, Mounjaro was FDA approved for weight-loss with a new name ZepBound.

Notes:

These medications FDA are approved for patients with a BMI of 27-29 with a comorbidity OR a BMI of 30 and above.

Programs differ but many professionals like patients to be a year post-op before adding in anti-obesity medications to the treatment plan. In some cases a provider may utilize it sooner.

*Note: supply and insurance coverage is the largest barrier. When insurance does not cover the medication, coupons can be found online. Ask your provider for information on these medications and what they are hearing about availability and affordability.
